Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters ~Colossians 3:23

What do you do when you feel that inner passion to do something but you are scared or not sure, or think it’s just you distracting yourself from doing something else you don’t really want to be doing anyway?  I truly believe all Christians are called to do something that God has had planned for each one of u all our lives. But we humans get in our own way.

I for one have had this inner feeling since I was very young. I did not understand it, nor did I want to. I remember being on a walk with my grandmother and we came by a homeless man. He looked me right in the eyes and I felt like I could see into his sole. I felt loneliness, bitterness, and also love. I walked up to him and asked him his name. I don’t remember what he said his name was. Then I asked him if he was alright. But before he could answer me, my grandmother grabbed my hand and said, Mina, we don’t talk to strangers. I made it very clear that he was not a stranger and I knew his name. She gave me that look, you know the one. We then headed off to where we were going. I remember thinking about that man all day and then asking my grandmother why he was laying down on the sidewalk near where we were. She responded that the man was a homeless man who did not have anything but the few items he carried with him. I remember praying for him and feeling very sad for him and wanted to find a way to help him not be homeless and or lonely.  I really started to feel it when I was in my 20’s after getting cancer. Not sure why this inner passion to help others was stronger, but it was.  I was not sure exactly what that feeling was, but it was strong and I knew it was important and I knew it was to help others not feel alone, lonely, afraid or lost.

Throughout life God gave me many challenges to overcome. HE allowed me to make choices to run from fear or face them. To grow from pain or weep in pity and self-absorption. I did not always choose the right one, but overtime I got better at making smarter choices. Becoming a better me that God created. In summary, I was physically and mentally abused by an alcoholic parent and his third wife who was not strong enough to protect me as a child. I was molested as a child by a family member. Later I went through a divorce, becoming a single mother. I then got cancer and was really alone. Later after a beautiful marriage, I got sick again with an auto Immune disease that now haunts me with losing all my hair and physical pain daily. Here is where I am getting at. You will go through many challenges in your life and these were only a couple of mine I shared with you. But it is how you chose to face these that will define who you become. God gives you free will and the choices to make. He will give you the strength, wisdom and resources to make the right choices. He will give you what you need if you personally do not have it. Like a friend or a doctor or a support group. He will give you the financial needs or the medicine or the right man or woman at the right time in your life to be your life mate. All you have to do is ask him.

So now, with all this knowledge, experiences and understanding I can go out and fulfill my calling. To help others achieve their best selves. It may be a blessing bag from the box of small bags filled with some food, toiletry items and cash that I hand out to homeless people as I come across them on the highways and bi-ways. It is sometimes carrying a few bags for an elderly man who just can’t get them all to the car. Sometimes it is speaking at a church or faith conference event about my story that speaks to the heart of one woman in the crowd who needed to know she is not alone. Or facilitating a bible study or small group circle or writing these blogs. And some of my favorite ones are just a cup of coffee with someone who just needed to be heard and seen. Sometimes, I even get a feeling it is bigger than that…hmmm. I’ll have to pray about that more.

Whatever your calling is, whatever that passion is beating so hard in your heart; listen to it. Trust it. God. Has.Got.You. He wants you to not always understand it, but to trust His will for You. His REASON for YOU. So if you have been called to help take care of babies at the church Sunday morning service or to write that book you keep thinking of or to build a new missionary; GO DO IT GIRLFRIEND! Pray to God to help you see clearly what He wants for you. Then, just trust that he will help you along the way.

Woman to Woman:Be courageous and allow your best self to rise up and do that “something” God has spoken into your heart!
